What is Hypnosis?
We often experience meditative or trance like
states during the course of our daily lives. The experience of hypnosis is
similar: neither asleep nor awake and a little like daydreaming, with a
pleasant feeling of deep relaxation. Everyone goes in and out of natural
hypnotic trances every day, without perhaps knowing it. Have you ever been
so absorbed in a book that the hours seemed to fly by? Realised that someone
was talking to you, but you were 'miles away'? All these are examples of
'common everyday trance', which all of us can do.
Hypnosis is an effective way of making contact with our inner (unconscious) self, which is both a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge as well as being the unwitting source of many of our problems.
What is Hypnotherapy? Dispelling the Myths
A hypnotherapist does not have any control over
you. You will not do or say anything that you do not want and you remain in
control at all times.
In fact, the state of hypnosis is one of heightened awareness where it is
possible for your mind to be aware of many more things than is possible in
the conscious state.
